Georgi Grozdev founder of the Balkani
Georgi Grozdev has graduated with a major in Journalism at the Sofia University (1982). He’s a descendant of refugees from Odrin Thrace during the Balkan War of 1912. Born in the town of Muglen, Burgas region, on Jan 29, 1957.
He founded Publishing House “Balkani” (1991). In the “Balkan Library” series (started May 2002) for the first time in our cultural history he presented tens of renowned writers from all the Balkan states without the prejudice of the past.
Georgi Grozdev is a laureate of the national Elin Pelin Short Story Prize (2002). His stories and novels are translated into Greek, English, Montenegrin, Serbian, Slovenian, Albanian and Croatian.
He’s the author of the novel “Prey” (2004), translated into Serbian and English. The cognoscenti find philosophical and social depths in the animalistic plot. The novel is anti-conformist, outside the box of contemporary prose.
Mr. Grozdev’s works have been approved in Bulgaria and abroad by academician Vera Mutafchieva (Balkan stories “I Passed Through Last Night”, 2000), Gencho Stoev (selected stories “God’s Crumbs”, 2002, a collection of stories “Wild Roots”, 1998), academician Dragoslav Mihailovich, prof. Milislav Savich, prof. Svetlozar Igov, prof. Bozhidar Kunchev, prof. Milena Kirova, senior researcher Vihren Chernokozhev, Yulian Zhiliev and others.
