Premiere of Cypriot Poetry and Prose

BALKAN LIBRARY’S CYPRIOT ADDRESSES

Publishing House “Balkani” presented Cypriot prose and poetry from the Balkan Library series in the “Krug +” gallery. The authors Hristos Hajipappas (winner of Cypriot and Greek national awards), Giorgos Moleskis, Vassilka Hajipapa, and Nasa Potapiou attended. The literary critic Prof. Svetlozar Igov spoke in detail about the books, and the publisher Georgi Grozdev presented the participation of the Cypriot writers in the Literary Balkans magazine. The bilingual magazine (Bulgarian and English) was recently introduced at the International Mediterranean Meeting with European writers in Nicosia. The attention paid to the “humiliated and the hurt” in the stories of the classic Giorgos Pieridis impressed the literary critic, “Twenty years ago I would have read his prose as old-fashioned realism and a reminder of a Bulgarian past. Reading it today makes me see in the social reality of this prose also our future, which is already present.”
